FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - SoMa 501 is pleased to announce the hiring of Nate Kennedy as Executive Director to further its mission of promoting and enhancing economic development and quality of life in the South Main business district.

“I’m very excited to begin working with local businesses and neighbors to build on the trajectory of the SoMa neighborhood - the neighborhood I live in - from Community Bakery and Rocktown Distillery down to Washington Elementary,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy, originally of Poplar Bluff, Mo., has been a resident of Little Rock since 2012. In 2014 he graduated from the Clinton School of Public service with a Masters in Public Service, and he holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Missouri. Throughout his career, Kennedy has worked on political campaigns in Missouri, Tennessee, and Arkansas. In 2016, he helped establish the Poplar Bluff Learning Lab, a nonprofit tutoring center in his hometown. He is also active in the local music scene and plays mandolin.

“We’re all looking forward to working with Nate. I think the programs and projects we’ll be able to complete under his leadership will further distinguish SoMa as one of Little Rock’s best spots for business owners and anyone wanting a walkable, family-friendly experience,” said Lindsey Barnett, president of the SoMa 501 Board of Directors.

A public Meet and Greet for Kennedy will be held on Friday, April 5th at the Bernice Garden from 6:00 to 7:00 PM in conjunction with SoMa After Dark, a monthly celebration of the community with activities and specials from local businesses.
