SoMa 501 Mini-Grant Program

Supporting Small Businesses. Enhancing Our District.

SoMa 501 is a 501 C3 dedicated to the revitalization and economic growth of the South Main Street district in Little Rock, Arkansas. As a proud affiliate of Main Street Arkansas, we follow the proven Main Street Four-Point Approach®, which centers on Organization, Design, Promotion, and Economic Vitality.

The Mini-Grant Program is a signature initiative of SoMa 501’s Economic Vitality Committee, aimed at empowering local businesses to make visible, lasting improvements that benefit both their operations and the community. The Mini-Grant program is funded through proceeds raised from SoMardi Gras, SoMa Pride and Fiesta en SoMa, along with other activities.

What is the Mini-Grant Program?

The SoMa 501 Mini-Grant Program provides financial support to eligible businesses and property owners located within the SoMa 501 district. These grants help fund improvement projects that enhance the appearance, functionality, and overall economic health of the area.

Matching grants of up to $1,000 are available for qualifying projects, with SoMa 501 matching each dollar the applicant invests, subject to funding availability.

Eligible Projects May Include:

  • New signage or awnings

  • Exterior building upgrades (paint, windows, doors, etc.)

  • Landscaping or curb appeal improvements

  • Other permanent visual enhancements that support the district's growth

  • Community events

In addition to financial assistance, applicants gain access to resources through SoMa 501’s Economic Vitality and Design Committees, who can:

  • Review your project plans

  • Connect you with Main Street Arkansas consultants, including a licensed architect, interior designer, and small business expert

  • Offer guidance on compliance with the Capitol Zoning District Commission (CZDC)
